Degrees and Certifications:
I am proud to say that I have been working at the Somerset County Educational Services Commission since 2001. I possess a Master’s Degree in Special Education, and I earned my Bachelor’s degree in English at Rutgers University in 1999. My peers voted me as Teacher of the Year in the 2007-2008 and the 2015-2016 school years. I have served in various educational roles at the Commission, and I have been teaching Language Arts since 2010. Since the written (and spoken) word has the power to change lives and to alter history, I believe it is imperative for my students to get a firm grasp on using words creatively and appropriately. I believe it is necessary to use every technological and written medium available in order to convey my educational message and to capture the attention of my students.
In addition to teaching academics to my students, I believe it is imperative to pass on important social and life skills to our young people. I try to instill the family values that I have learned in my life and from my family. One of my main goals is to show students that people’s lives are enhanced when they treat one another with respect and show empathy for all human beings. I also try to instill a love for the natural world and health. As the high school softball coach since 2011, I have also tried to model good sportsmanship and a passion for physical activity.
