• I have been in education for seventeen years teaching physical education, health and Driver’s Education to students at The Somerset County Educational Services Commission.  I currently hold numerous state certificates which include a BS in Health and Physical Education from Thomas Edison State College, BS in Elementary Education (k-8) from The College of New Jersey, BS in Early Childhood from Chowan University, and a state Certification in Driver’s Education from Jersey City University. In addition to these degrees I also hold a Master’s in Education from Nova Southeastern University and have just recently completed my Supervisor Certification from Thomas Edison State College. I have also coached for 16 years in both football and wrestling for the NJSIAA at the High School level which I feel has taught me tremendous patience and discipline, which have carried over to my classroom.

In my time teaching with the SCESC two of my prize accomplishments are being honored as the 2005 Somerset County Governor’s Teacher of the Year candidate, as well as receiving the 2007 Innovation in Special Education Award bestowed from the Senate and General Assembly for a Fun with Fishing Program I developed.

I feel I demonstrate great poise, flexibility and patience while teaching the importance of recreational activities and exercise programs to my students.  It is my innate ability to teach while recognizing the needs of each student that creates a positive learning environment and enhances students’ motivation.

I strongly believe that the results of participation in my recreational activities and exercise programs will increase self-esteem and self-confidence in my students.  My students will also develop an increased acceptance of consequences, develop the ability to trust and cope better with anxiety and stress.  Most of all, they will improve their physical fitness as they venture into adulthood.

Lastly, I am happily married to an amazing woman named Jessica who is a High School Science teacher.  We have two beautiful daughters, Sophia Kay and Emma Katherine, who were born on exactly the same day, April 16, three years apart.
